SPL Preview 22/02/11

Aberdeen v Hamilton

Two sides that have had different fortunes of late face up in this midweek clash at Pittodrie. Aberdeen will be looking to capitalise on their good form of late and carry on from their 5-0 victory against Kilmarnock on Saturday.

Hamilton on the other hand are looking to close the gap to just a point at the bottom of the table and can do this if they can manage an away win for the third time this season.

Paul Hartley was missing at the weekend through suspension and should be back in the squad for tonight’s game.

This game could be crucial in both terms of the relegation battle and the battle for top six.

Hamilton have been struggling and need a good win to help their fight against relegation but the odds are stacked against them as Craig Brown’s men have been improving of late and will look to move up the table with a home win.

My prediction: Aberdeen 3-0 Hamilton

St Johnstone v Dundee United

A mid-table dogfight looks on the cards when these two sides meet at McDiarmid Park. Both teams are sitting on 29 points but the saints have played two games more. The both lost games away from home at the weekend and will be looking to bounce back tonight.

United will feel hard done by that they didn’t get a point away to Hearts and St Johnstone will be looking for ninth win of the campaign.

A few injuries problems for the home side will hopefully not dampen the spirit of the game which will surely be a lively encounter with both sides very much in with a chance of finishing in fourth place.

I think it could be a really good game but the teams may just cancel each other out.

My prediction: St Johnstone 1-1 Dundee United
